Dear Parents,
This week we will be reviewing the
vocabulary of the colors learned in this second quarter. Those colors are: purple,
black, brown, gray and white.
This week we will be
focusing on an author study which will be about Lois Ehlert. Lois Ehlert is an
amazing author of the books like the ones we will be studying this week. Her
books are great to encourage reading skills, and learn about colors , ABC and
so many more great lessons. The best of it is that she writes in a very fun and
friendly way to get children engaged to her stories.
Some of the stories for this week are:
This week we will be discussing
Christmas. We will be making Christmas Crafts and reading a lot of stories
related to this holiday. If you have any Christmas stories that we could borrow
from you, we would appreciate if you send them over with your child to school.
We will be returning them before the holiday.
Our annual Songfest will take place on
Friday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m. Please mark this date and time on your
calendar. Take into consideration that this is the time where traffic gets a
little bit hectic in this city. We would really like to see all the children in
school at 6:00 p.m. so we can go over last details with them. They are all very
excited practicing their song every day with a lot of enthusiasm. Your child
needs to come in dressed as village
people. If you need help with the costume ideas please let us know as soon
as possible! Thank you for your support.
Santa Claus will be
visiting the children for this Christmas Party!!! We are requesting for you to
send a gift so Santa can give it to your child. If you have not sent the gift
please do so as soon as possible. We are still missing a lot of presents. It
would be very sad to see a child without a gift. The gift should not be more
than 200 lps. Thanks in advance for your support!
Challenge at Home is a small activity
assigned to do at home during the weekend with children. It could be a short
story, a game, a song. Every Monday Morning we will discuss about this little
challenge. The objective is to enjoy and to reinforce their learning and
comprehension. We always appreciate your involvement with your children’s
learning.
For this week, our first Challenge at Home will be
practice the circle shape building. On the note book you will find a worksheet
that they have to bring back to school on Monday to discuss how was their
experience. Hope you have lots of fun with this activity.
SONG FEST – Please
do not forget that this Friday, December 11 we will hold our Songfest. This
year, the theme is the AWESOME 80’s,
and our students have been working very hard in preparing their presentations
for our school community. The show will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Since
traffic tends to be very hectic at this time of the year, and especially on
Fridays, we recommend you try to be here early. We are inviting you to come at 5:00 p.m. and enjoy the delicious
food that will be sold by the DPTO, the drinks sold by the Seniors, and the
tasty pastry sold by the Community Service, and do a little bit of Christmas
shopping with selected vendors from the Xmas Bazaar.
NPH GIVING TREE- Nuestros
Pequeños Hermanos (NPH) is an international organization that takes in
abandoned and orphaned children, providing a home and education. Here in Honduras, the NPH organization
provides for over 500 children in at large ranch near La Venta and home in
Tegucigalpa for severely handicapped children.
While many children at the ranch have aunts, uncles, or grandparents
that come to visit them and can provide some Christmas gifts, some children at
a ranch have no family to visit. It is
these children, whom we would like to provide for this Christmas. On the second floor of the secondary
building, a NPH Giving Tree will be set up.
If you wish to participate, choose a paper tree that has a child’s
information about his/her size for shoes or socks. Purchase the new item and return it to Mrs.
Agurcia’s Room (Rm. 7) by Tuesday, December 8th, with the tree tag taped to
it. Thank you for giving this Christmas!
