Week of Nov. 23-27

Dear Parents,

This week we will be begin our first study learning about Shapes. We will be working and learning about the circle. The vocabulary words we are going to be focusing on are: plate, orange, cookie, bubbles, ball, CD, and clock.

If you have any items at home that are with the shape of a circle, send them over with your child and we will be discussing them in class, we will display them on a table and we will return them back on Friday. The kids get excited to bring things from home. Thanks a lot for your involvement.

Some of the stories that we will be reading this week are:

Our Nursery Rhyme this week is: “Five Little Turkeys”
I am attaching you the link of the video of this song we will be learning throughout the week. We will learn two versions of this nursery rhyme. Just a little tip to have fun at home listening and acting out our song.

This is going to be a very short week. We are going to be mainly talking about Thanksgiving Celebration and the meaning of this holiday. We will list things that we should be thankful for. If you have any books that are related to this holiday, We will really appreciate if you let us borrow them from you.

For our Thanksgiving Celebration, we are requesting Lps. 80.00. We will be using this money to buy chicken fingers, juice, plastic cups, forks, napkins and a goodie bag. Please send this money no later than Tuesday, November 24th. Remember the children will be dismissed from school at 11:45 a.m. on this day.

Our annual Songfest will take place on Friday, December 11th  at 6:30 p.m. Please mark this date and time on your calendar. Take into consideration that this is the time where traffic gets a little bit hectic in this city. They are all very excited practicing their song every day with a lot of enthusiasm. We also want to remind you that your child needs to come in dressed as village people, some ideas were posted in last week’s post.

Remember that there will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th. Happy Thanksgiving and stay safe!

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES – We remind parents that ALL after school activities will begin at 3:15 p.m. and will end at 4: 15 p.m. We ask parents to be prompt in picking the students up from after school activities.

MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS– Progress reports went home last Friday, November 20. They must be signed by parents and returned to school before the Thanksgiving Holiday. If you wish to conference with a teacher, please do not hesitate to contact the school to set up an appointment.

BAKE SALE – The Juniors will be having a bake sale in order to raise funds for their upcoming community service. The bake sale will be on Friday, December 4 during snack and lunch.

JUGUETON 2015 – Our school has been invited to participate in the First Lady’s Christmas drive to give toys to the children less fortunate of Honduras. The school will be making a donation as an institution, but would like to invite our students and parents to go through their closets and find toys in good shape to donate for this activity. There will be a box in the reception area (with Ms. Carolina) where the toys can be dropped off. We will be delivering what we contribute as a school on Wednesday, December 9.
